HTTPoetics Final Project: Tag-A-Train
For the final project of HTTPoetics we were tasked to take everything that we had learned over the last few weeks and make something. I was having lots of trouble with wrapping my head around Javascript, so I was going to revisit an older project, maybe my bird project, but decided to really try and do something hard (for me). I really liked learning the Javascript to draw lines, it was a very satisfying online interaction so I decided to play with that idea. On my way to work one day I saw the graffiti on the trains that pass through town and it hit me! I'll make a train that you can draw on. I always think of the graffiti on the trains as a kind of poem or story that the artist sends out into the world on a rolling billboard. So I wanted to have a way to send the boxcar out into the world when you're done... out into the world. I had some other ideas of maybe being able to post your train to social media, or email it to yourself, or make a track where all the boxcars can just scroll by. But I was really struggling with the javascript and CSS and after getting some help from the instructor, Todd, I decided to simplify and just enjoy the simple purpose and execuction of the website.
